LEED

The LEED Green Building Rating System, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy, is a voluntary standard for developing environmentally responsible, low emission, high-performance, sustainable buildings.  LEED certification is for the entire construction project.  Materials and products used in buildings are not individually certified.  Through a rigorous process of third-party verification by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) the project earns points towards achieving a particular level of certification (Certified, Silver, Gold or Platinum).

Because these countertops use >90% recycled content, they may qualify for numerous LEED points in the selected categories of Materials and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, and potentially Innovation in Design.
