Marble slab – Black with white veins

$1,500.00

Dark marble with veining is a classic stone for construction.  You can choose what shade you want, and whether you want strong or soft veining.  This marble comes from Europe, where it has been used in construction and for decorative purposes since ancient Rome.

Marble is a sedimentary stone, formed where layers of sediments were deposited at the earths surface and then pushed down with strong pressure.  These successive layers are what give marbles their gorgeous wavy veins.

Because marble is made of calcium carbonate, it is relatively soft, ranking only 3 on the Mohs Hardness Scale.  Additionally, marble is sensitive to mild acids, so we don't recommend it for heavily used kitchen areas where it could easily etch or stain.  It is also porous, so we recommend sealing and protecting it from debris penetrating the material.  We recommend it for other indoor areas like bathrooms or fireplace surrounds.  Monuments and temples all over the world were built with marble, so it can be used for exterior walls, patios, and courtyards.

The graining is varied and rich, ranging from straight grained to wavy and irregular.  The color of this marble ranges from darker grays to black.  We love dark with subtle veining but also with stronger patterns.

We hand select our natural stones to assure the best look and texture.  Because stone is a product of nature, no two pieces are alike.  Marble from different locations can result in different looks.  Please stop by or order a sample to confirm the look you want.  When the right stone is chosen, and composed in the right way, marble can be one of the most unique stones for interior and exterior surfaces.

USES:

Marble can be used for flooring and wall surfaces, both for indoor and outdoor applications.

Color Range

Marble is a natural stone with any imaginable color.

Marble does exhibit strong color variation from slab to slab, so selecting specific tiles is important.

Grain & Visual Pattern:

Marble’s visual variations allow for a range of aesthetics.  Its grain can be straight and refined, or wavy and even irregular with a rugged appearance.

Rustic looking marble can be found with strong veins, streaks, and swirls.

Carefully selecting the pattern of the marble for your project is recommended to find your tailored look.

Texture and Finish:

Marble is suitable for:

  • a naturally aged finish
  • a rustic finish with a rough texture
  • a satin finish
  • a honed finish
  • a polished or high-gloss finish

However, due to the many different colors and pattern anomalies found with different stones, the right finish will depend on the marble you choose.

Environmental

We believe when the building industry sources and manufactures building materials with sustainability in mind, we all live in a healthier world, and we want to do our part.  Marble is ecologically friendly.  It does not contain any VOCs, and are better than their non eco-friendly counterparts.
